Around 34,000 customers of Northeast Ohio Natural Gas will see their bills go up

Columbus, Ohio – Around 34,000 customers of Northeast Ohio Natural Gas will see their bills go up after state regulators approved a settlement for a rate increase.

The agreement, finalized on March 19, involves the gas distributor, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, and the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel. It allows the company to increase its annual revenue by $2.4 million, a news release stated.

Households that use 10,000 cubic feet of natural gas each month should expect their monthly bill to rise by $2.67 to $4.70. The service area of Northeast Ohio Natural Gas includes Wayne, Holmes, and Fairfield counties, and extends to Lorain, Medina, Stark, Trumbull, and Tuscarawas counties, as shown on its service map.

Originally, the distributor sought to boost its annual revenue by $5.9 million, which is more than double the amount agreed upon. According to the release, Northeast Ohio Natural Gas plans to start a capital expenditure program to cover the costs of system upgrades over the next three years. Additionally, they will contribute $15,000 to a program that helps low-income customers with their payments.
