Cincinnati, Ohio – The local Search and Recovery organization has gotten a much-needed boost to its operations, which is a big step forward for community service in Cincinnati. The team now has a new Polaris vehicle thanks to the kindness of Cincinnati Premium Outlets. This is an important addition that will help them serve the community better.

The Polaris will be of great help especially with long search and training missions

The Polaris that was donated will be very helpful to the volunteers of the group during their long search and training missions. Margo Shari, who is on the Board of Directors for Search & Recovery, talked about how excited she was about the new purchase.

“It’s great because it’ll help transport what we need,” she said.

Needless to say, the Polaris has clear practical benefits. It will make it easier to get volunteers, who are often out in the field for hours at a time, provisions like water and food.

Volunteer-based Cincinnati Search and Recovery is an important part of the community because it helps look for people who have gone missing. They work closely with police departments and other groups, and they are ready to help whenever called upon.

“Any agency can call us and any individual can call, and we would get the information and then try to see what the police agency is doing with that case and if we’re able to step in and help,” explained Shari.

The organization is very dedicated and their K9 officers go through up to 200 hours of hard training every year, which can cost their handlers between $5,000 and $6,000. These trained dogs are very important to the search because they often lead teams 10 to 20 miles from where they started. The new Polaris will also help get these important K9 officers and their handlers back to base after long searches.

Search missions can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The group accepts volunteers from all walks of life, as long as they get the right training. The wide range of volunteers, including grandmothers, nurses, doctors, and people who work in law enforcement and the military, shows how committed the community is to helping with the search and recovery efforts.

The volunteers have already helped with five searches this year, showing their commitment to always helping those in need. The Polaris is not only a useful addition to their tools, but it also gives the volunteers a morale boost by showing them that the community values and supports their hard work.
